The Masai

The pastoral Masai native gruop occupy the Narok and Kajiado districts of Kenya, and share the Olmaa language from which their name derives within Kenya with the Samburu and Ilchamus, and across the border in Tanzania with the Arusha and Baraguyu.

The Masai native People are trying to survive in the contemporary society.

They are a semi-nomadic people who lived under a communal land management system in Kenya . The movement of livestock is based on seasonal rotation. We can say that they have a responsible behavior with the management of their resources because they respect the environment and they utilize their tools in a sustainable manner.

Each tribe manages its own territory.

Americans Natives

“Native Americans in the United States” is the term that describes indigenous peoples of the United States (including parts of Alaska and the island state of Hawaii). That is a good way to rename the ancient tribes who lived in the all regions! But for sure it’s not appropriate to call them Indians!

When the colonization took place, was easy to mark the differences between the European colonists and the American natives! It becomes the reason to start a conflict!

The diversities in culture between the Native Americans and Europeans, and the shifting alliances among different nations of each culture, led to great misunderstandings and long lasting cultural conflicts.

The conflict started and at that time the pre-Columbian population was about 1 million to 18 million, but for sure after the colonization and nowadays the population is extremely reduced!

But what does it mean to be American native today?

According to the U.S Census about 70 percent of Native Americans live in urban areas, that means thousand of miles away from their traditional homeland.

They still speak their languages or maintain ties with their reservation or Indian communities, but often with some social struggle. We live in a dynamic society, that is in movement: some of the American natives are old, some are new and some are on-going. It’ important to keep the roots and in the same time to go on!

People and travel in the world

There are different ways to travel. Some travelers prefer to book hotels 5 star collect any other garment in the bag and start the adventure!

Since we started to have free time, arises as a consequence, the need to travel … but what the best way to travel? The world of travel offers a wide range of possibilities in terms of hotels accomodations and so on..so we have to choose understanding our needs. If we decide to travel because we like to meet different people and their culture, surely we have within us a small vein of anthropology.

But if the intention is to sit comfortably at the edge of a swimming pool of a luxury hotel in Bali, it is clear that the reason for our departure is quite different.

If the journey is a metaphor to get to know themselves, surely the idea of leaving and coming into contact with different societies and cultures than their own, there should be the focus and enthusiasm of our needs. There are several anthropological theories that start from the premise that to know ourselves we must meet each other!

It is important to be clear about the reason for trip and departure and our needs! Book a hotel or a hostel is quite a simple operation if the base is a safe attitude and decided!

Travel is good for the mind, eyes and we were unloaded from the stresses of everyday life … and what do you think?
